Green Day is a very famous American punk rock band formed in 1987 . The trio consists of Billy Joe Amstrong, he is the singer of the band and also the guitarrist; Mike Dirnt, he plays the bass guitar and he is the second vocalist too; there is another boy in the group, Tre Cool , the drummer of this fantastic Californian band.
Green day has seven studio albums: 39/smooth, Kerplunk, Dookie ( it was their first famous album, they sold over 10 million albums in the U.S.A and 15 million copies around the world ) Insomniac, Nimrod, Warning, these last three albums didn´t have a big success, and the last and the most important studio album is American Idiot it sold over 5 million copies and this one has
attracted young people.
The band has won a lot of awards since they formed: Three Grammys, Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, and Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
Green Day is a successful band because for me is a very good American band, and they did a very good songs since they formed, bolulevard of broken dreams, american idiot...So for me and for a lot of people Green Day is the best american band at the moment.
